SAFe DevOps course now available

Last June, we released SAFe Version 4.5 of SAFe, bringing DevOps and Continuous Delivery to the forefront. It is our firm belief that in order to accelerate time-to-market, DevOps and Continuous Delivery must be a core competency of every Agile Release Train (ART).
Now, with the release of the new two-day course SAFe DevOps with SAFe DevOps Practitioner (SDP) certification, we have the right training to support this mission. This course combines DevOps with the power of SAFe, bringing Lean, Agile and DevOps together, and focuses on the entire flow of value from concept to cash—not just from code commit to deploy.
This new course covers the principals of our CALMR approach to DevOps, takes the participants through the full feature lifecycle of Continuous Exploration, Continuous Integration, Continuous Deployment and Release on Demand. It does this via a full Value Stream mapping exercise: mapping the current state of the delivery pipeline, building a future-state map with the competencies that can help them achieve a faster flow of value, and, finally, creating a backlog for the DevOps transformation, based on the areas that will provide the best economic value.
Participants also assess their ability in the 16 sub-dimensions of the SAFe DevOps health radar, as pictured below.
Over the upcoming months, we will provide more information about these 16 sub-dimensions on the framework website as we update the existing articles to reflect our new learning.

SPCs may now find the information, material, and enablement videos for teaching this class on the SAFe community platform.
There are many people who helped make this course a reality, and they all deserve our gratitude, but I would especially like to thank Marc Rix for his knowledge and support on the content, and Tedy Dimitrova for her expert instructional design.

I’ve just recently attended the SAFe DevOps Practitioner course and took the certification just after. Inbar and co teacher (Joseph Vallone) did a great job. The pace is quite high, so I must admit after the two days I feel I missed some benefits from the course, but revisiting the health radar and the stages in the course material as preparation for the exam really put the pieces together. So altogether it was value for money.
As Inbar writes above the health radar will come into the scaled agile framework – I made a mind map from the course materiale, and I will suggest it is done on the website too with references to the individual competencies behind it. It makes a great overview and makes it an easy going task to use in the agile transition.

This course is continuation of the revolutionary breakthrough promised by Agile.

In the core of this course is the DevOps health radar.
The DevOps health radar is constructed across 4 dimensions:
Explore Dimension
Integrate Dimension
Deploy Dimension
Release Dimension
Each dimension is explained from the perspectives of Why (Business objective), How (IT objective), and What (competence).
Each dimensions has 4 sub-dimensions. Total of 16 sub-dimensions.
In an essence, each of the sub-dimensions represents a Primary Competence.
In turn, each of these sub-dimensions (or primary competencies) requires more specific competencies.
Collectively, these primary competencies demonstrate an organization’s maturity in their journey of DevOps practice.
The competence of the organization across each sub-dimension is measured based on 4 stages:
1 – Crawl
2 – Walk
3 – Run
4 – Fly
As per above summary, just the DevOps health radar alone presents a comprehensive tool to lead and guide DevOps transformation.
